Kelly shared the following: Before I was on leave, Alex was already showing great initiative and worked well with both staff and clients. When I returned, I found a lot less chaos and catching up to do than I expected largely in part to Alex’s initiative in taking up duties that were not necessarily assigned to Alex. I would like to mention that the ENTIRE Iris Team has been wonderful, and Alex’s efforts have really shined. The quality of life Alex provides for the client is exactly how I would want my loved ones to be treated. Ensuring outings, conversation, learning some ASL to better communicate with the client, and encouraging independence in the client. Alex has taken over the duties of menu and shopping and Iris has never had a better budget. Meds are well organized always in stock as Alex is very on top of ordering. I feel the fact that Alex’s coworkers also believe that she deserves recognition for all that she does says more than my recommendations.

Making a difference in the consumers’ lives, no matter how big or small.
What do you love most about working with the individuals you support?
Constant change. No day is ever the same.
What skills or qualities have you developed in your role that you are most proud of?
Patience. Figuring out what nonverbal individuals are trying to say takes patience.
What is something you do outside of work that you are passionate about?
Oh you know, things ‘n’ stuff!
