John shows up at houses to take care of maintenance tickets, always smiling. He askes for staff input and tries to trouble shoot issues with them. He never acts like what we are asking is too much or unnecessary. He is a joy to work with!

What motivates you to do your best work every day?
It stems from how I was raised- to always do your best work because actions and your work often speak louder than your words.
What do you love most about working with the individuals you support?
When I walk into the houses, they are often happy with a smile on their face and can’t wait to tell me about their day.
What skills or qualities have you developed in your role that you are most proud of?
Thinking outside of the box on how to make things work to meet the needs of the individuals.
What is something you do outside of work that you are passionate about?
I enjoy reading historical fiction, sci-fi and fantasy. Also, I like to be outside event it’s just sitting in my chair or working in the woods.
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone looking to grow in their role or career at NHS Northstar?
Always do your best and try to learn something new. Remember to put one foot in front of the other and take one day at time. If you are fair and work hard, you will be a person that can be trusted.
